Founder & CEO
Ramon I. Karney
Ramon I. Karney is a visionary leader, retired Marine, educator, and community advocate with over 20 years of experience empowering youth and strengthening communities. As the Founder and CEO of Model the Way Inc., his strategic leadership drives the organization’s mission to engage, enlighten, and elevate young people through mentorship, education, and community partnerships. Ramon’s background spans curriculum development, process improvement, and faith-based leadership, making him a dynamic force in youth development. He currently serves in multiple leadership roles and boards throughout the community. Ramon holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Christian Studies, and will complete his Master of Science in Youth Development Leadership at Clemson University in August 2025. With certifications in leadership development, instructional design, and process improvement, he brings both passion and expertise to every initiative. His unwavering commitment to service continues to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Jammie Moore
Jammie Moore is a dedicated public servant and passionate advocate for youth leadership and civic engagement. As an election specialist with the Beaufort County Board of Elections and Voter Registration, she helps safeguard the integrity of local elections while inspiring young people to value fairness, responsibility, and community service. A proud Battery Creek High School alumna, Jammie holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina-Columbia and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. She also shares her talents in public speaking and audiovisual production to support youth ministry, empowering young voices through church plays and radio broadcasts.

Walter T. Capers
Walter T. Capers is a dedicated youth pastor, mentor, and community leader passionate about empowering young people to discover and walk in their purpose. As Youth Pastor at Live in Faith Everyday Ministries, a Behavior Management Specialist, and a basketball coach with the Beaufort County School District, Walter invests deeply in youth development both spiritually and personally. A graduate of Battery Creek High School, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and an associate degree in Business Management. Known for his approachable spirit and strong leadership, Walter is driven by the belief that “every young person is one mentor away from discovering their purpose and one prayer away from walking in it.”

Kandyce M. Karney
Kandyce M. Karney is a passionate early childhood educator and youth mentor dedicated to creating safe, dynamic spaces where young people can thrive. As a preschool teacher, she nurtures cognitive, physical, and social growth through hands-on learning and outdoor exploration. A 2022 graduate of Whale Branch Early College High School and the Technical College of the Lowcountry, Kandyce combines strong classroom management and organizational skills with a deep commitment to youth leadership. A former state track and field champion, she now coaches with a local traveling team, using sports as a platform to motivate and empower the next generation.

Davina L. Coleman
Davina L. Coleman is a dynamic leader, youth pastor, and international speaker dedicated to empowering young people and transforming communities through faith, education, and leadership development. As Youth Pastor at Love House Ministries and a Leader in Me Coach with Franklin Covey, Davina mentors the next generation while guiding schools across the nation in building leadership capacity and academic excellence. A published author and CEO of her own consulting company, she inspires youth and adults alike to move from vision to execution with purpose and intentionality. With nearly 20 years in education, including as a principal Davina brings passion, wisdom, and faith to her mission of helping others boldly birth what they were created to produce.

LaTosha Karney
A Detroit native, LaTosha Karney is passionate about empowering youth through advocacy, education, and leadership. With a heart for service, she has dedicated herself to guiding young people through her work in youth ministry, the Young Marines Program, and local school initiatives. Professionally, LaTosha brings a wealth of leadership experience across diverse sectors from earning her Child Development Associate Credential and serving as a lead teacher in Department of Defense Child Development Centers, to achieving the role of Vice President in banking with Fort Sill National Bank, and now serving as a Branch Manager for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. LaTosha holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration and is committed to inspiring the next generation to lead with purpose. She is married and a proud mother of two.

Kelvin L. Simmons
Kelvin L. Simmons is a passionate educator, mentor, and community leader dedicated to empowering youth to discover their purpose and potential. A native of Coosaw Island, South Carolina, and inspired by his mother’s legacy as a lifelong educator, Kelvin has devoted over 18 years to serving students and currently through his work as a Behavior Management Specialist-Lead at Whale Branch Early College High School. In addition to his role in education, he is a certified SLED Security Trainer and CPR/First Aid/AED instructor, equipping others with skills for service and safety. As Pastor of First African Baptist Church St. Helena, Kelvin blends faith and leadership to guide young people toward growth, resilience, and success. He lives by the words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
